Hull is named one of Rough Guides’ tip 10 cities to revisit in 2016

More than a decade after it was crowned Britain’s misfortune place to live, Hull has been named one of a world’s tip 10 cities to revisit this year.

The easterly Yorkshire city was eighths on a list curated by London-based Rough Guides alongside vital cities such as Mexico City, Seoul and Vancouver.

In apart lists, a Rough Guide to 2016 also named Wales and Scotland’s Western Isles among this year’s best traveller destinations.

Hull’s honour comes 12 years after a book Crap Towns named a city on a Humber as a misfortune place in Britain to live.

On a website, Rough Guides explained Hull’s inclusion, writing: ‘It’ll be packed with new hotels and restaurants, and even some-more of that particular home-grown creativity a city has always had.

‘There are windy old-timey pubs, 8 glorious museums and a lifelike Old Town with cobbled streets.

‘This year’s fun is set to cap in a Sep Freedom Festival, when a whole city is incited into a theatre for performers and artists.’

Hull will be a UK’s City of Culture in 2017. 

Reykjavik, Iceland, surfaced a list of cities to revisit and was followed by Mexico City, Seoul, a Slovenian collateral of Ljubljana, and Wroclaw, Poland.

Scotland’s Western Isles was 10th in a list of a world’s tip regions to visit. The list was surfaced by Alaska, followed by Gujarat, India and Tasmania in Australia.
